DESCRIPTION

Four African Dances was composed in 2006 while the composer was a student at Missouri Western State University. The work is through composed and has four sections, each with their own distinct personality. This visceral work for percussion septet is perfect for closing a recital or percussion ensemble concert.

INSTRUMENTATION:

Percussion 1:     Medium Djembe, Gankogui (Agogô Bells), Brekete (Large Floor Tom)

Percussion 2:     Small Djembe, Shekere

Percussion 3:     Medium Djembe, Gankogui (Agogô Bells)

Percussion 4:     Large Djembe, Rainstick, Claves, Large Shekere

Percussion 5:     Small Kpanlogo (Small Conga), Talking Drum

Percussion 6:     Medium Kpanlogo (Medium Conga), Talking Drum
